The decision to underplay comes from the director. The decision to not have any expressions on your face is the inability to act. Don’t confuse the two, Imran (and Katrina) Apparently, pretty faces in this country go a long way. Maybe the guys who can actually act aren’t pretty enough.
I would love to not criticize and see some rock solid actors and performances, because god knows we have none left who are not 40 years old. And even those (read Salman) are embarrassing the industry more than anything else. I am so thankful to new directors with offbeat scripts and fresh faces. There’s still hope.

wow, katrina really believes that she can act. she enever has any expression on her face, it is the most blank face possible in every scene. and she is so quick to brush off criticism as something she is not bothered by, well, people spend their hard earned money to watch your film so they have every right to voice their opinion about whether you are doing your job or not. and secondly, just because a film worked does not mean that you did your job well in it, in most of katrina’s films which have worked, she has had a decorative two scene role where she just has to look pretty and dance with the hero in the song, that is not acting and you certainly cant take the credit for that film having done well. At least imran seems to be taking it with a pitch of salt, she seems blatantly self assured of her “acting” skills!

news flash Katrina: a film is able to do well even with a few flaws such as an actress that can’t act…especially if she hardly has any lines and just knows how to shake her booty in a few nicely choreographed dances. btw the reason she had success in the begining is b/c of salman, he got her good movies. the reason she is successful now is b/c of her popularity. unfortunatly bollywood is notorious for overlooking shortcomings and we are probably missing out on a lot of talent out there who really know how to act….sad but true. most of the katrina movies i’ve seen is due to the actor or other actors in the film.
